Before polymerization of dentine composite, the thin, conical tip is placed on natural enamel to gently shape unpolymerized composite, creating an ideal spacing of approximately 0.5 mm to 0.7 mm for enamel layering.
Additionally, the thicker, short tip is positioned horizontally along the cavity margin, ensuring accurate composite distribution along the finishing line.
